This month, we are excited to welcome back WABA’s inspiring Master Beekeeper, Cody Misner, who once again shared his wealth of knowledge with the club. His presentation, which focused on how to perform the first seasonal hive inspection of the year, was both informative and engaging. Cody walked members through the critical steps of inspecting hives after winter, addressing everything from checking for signs of disease to evaluating the hive’s population and the health of the queen. This knowledge is essential as beekeepers prepare for the busy spring and summer months ahead.
Cody, a third-year beekeeper, is an enthusiastic and skilled apiarist who currently manages his own apiary, which includes more than eight hives. His expertise is not just hands-on; he is also academically committed to expanding his knowledge. He is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Beekeeping at the University of Florida, where he continues to deepen his understanding of bee management, sustainable beekeeping practices, and the latest developments in the field.
The presentation was a perfect opportunity for new and experienced beekeepers alike to learn more about the early stages of hive management for the season. We’re grateful to Cody for sharing his experience and insights, which will undoubtedly help all our members have a more successful and productive beekeeping season.
We look forward to seeing you all at next month’s meeting, where we will continue to explore the fascinating world of beekeeping and learn from experts like Cody.

Congratulation to our monthly WABA raffle winner Scott McCoy!!!
