WABA March 25 Workshop

The Williamsburg Area Beekeepers Association (WABA) recently hosted its very first free hands-on workshop in March 2025. This workshop was designed to help new beekeepers develop essential skills for managing healthy colonies. This interactive session focused on two critical aspects of beekeeping: colony inspection and Varroa mite testing.

During the workshop, participants learned how to properly inspect a hive, identify signs of a thriving colony, and recognize potential issues such as pests, diseases, or queen-related concerns. In addition, attendees were guided through Varroa mite testing techniques, an essential practice for monitoring and controlling this major threat to honeybee health. Experienced beekeepers provided demonstrations and assisted participants in performing these tasks themselves, ensuring they left with confidence in their ability to care for their own hives.

WABA is committed to supporting both new and experienced beekeepers through education and community engagement. We encourage those interested in learning more about beekeeping to visit our website at www.wabava.org to explore upcoming free workshops and other valuable resources. Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your skills, our workshops provide hands-on experience and expert guidance to help you succeed.

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
